How could an ex-Jw become Catholic

i don't mean this to be offensive to any catholics in any way and believe that they can have true salvation unlike the jw.

also, i know little about the in's and out's of practicing catholicism, as i have never had any interest in being one.

regardless i am always surprised when an ex-jw says that they have found the real truth in catholicism.

Also, I know little about the in's and out's of practicing Catholicism, as I have never had any interest in being one. Regardless I am always surprised when an ex-Jw says that they have found the real truth in Catholicism. To me it seems that they are falling into the belief that they are in the one chosen religion and all other religions and subsequent denominations are wrong. The Catholics also seem to have fairly strict ordinances regarding detailed aspects of your life and are very liturgical....and these things seem to be reasons that some left the Jw's. Catholicism also has it version of the Bible....again something that turned some Jw's off. Catholic history is steeped in 'new light' like teachings and the leaders hold their authority far above the average catholic member, believing that without their direction they would be totally lost on how to understand the Bible....again things that made ex-jw's say 'Wait a minute...you mean to tell me.....'.
Again I mean no offense, and I am sure that there are plenty of things that I am either off about or just dead wrong. So, please correctly me where I am wrong.

Actually, truth be told, I have found Fundamentalism to be much more strict, and Catholicism to be based much more on conscience.

As far as the Catholics considering themselves to be the one and only way, this has been answered pretty well. My studies have shown that the Church tends to be incredibly loving, almost bordering on universalism, but I have been corrected in the past on that.

As far as the issue of the Pope and Mary being worshipped....yeah, ya know, I have met people that go so far over board on the matter of the Pope and Mary to the point that they completely miss the point, that being Jesus. But for the most part, I really don't see the whole Pope worshipping thing too often.

How could an ex-JW become Catholic?

I am really glad you guys got a kick out of this.

I forwarded this to some friends and it was insinuated that it was a racist type joke.

In all honesty, that's not how I took it.

And I am hoping that I didn't hurt any feelings here.

Det was voted last year as being number two on the list of murders/violent crimes.

Ya know, it is what it is.

The Detroit Red Wings foreign scout flies to Baghdad to watch a young
Iraqi play hockey in the new American sponsored league, and is suitably
impressed and arranges for him to come over to the US .
Ken Holland signs him to a one year contract and the kid joins the team
for the preseason.

Two weeks later the Wings are down 4-0 to the Blackhawks with only 10
minutes left. Mike Babcock gives the young Iraqi the nod and he goes in.
The kid is a sensation -- scores 5 goals in 10 minutes and wins the game
for the Wings! The fans are delighted, the players and coaches are
delighted, and the media love the new star.

When the player comes off the ice he phones his mom to tell her about
his first day of NHL hockey. "Hello mom, guess what?" he says in an Iraqi
accent. "I played for 10 minutes today, we were 4-0 down, but I scored 5
goals and we won. Everybody loves me, the fans, the media, they all love
me."

"Wonderful," says his mom, "Let me tell you about my day. Your father
got shot in the street and was robbed, your sister and I were ambushed,
raped and beaten, and your brother has joined a gang of looters, and all while
you were having such great time."

The young Iraqi is very upset. "What can I say mom, but I'm so sorry."

"Sorry? You're Sorry?" says his mom, "It's your fault we moved to
Detroit in the first place!"

~Mmm. Tell us your healthy snack ideas/recipes~

i took a ruby red grapefruit just now and cut it in half and then fourthed the half.

this started me thinking.

i bet all of you have healthy snack ideas and recipes you could share with all of us.

Slather a tortilla with a lowfat cream cheese spread. Some of the flavored ones are yummy. Layer turkey or ham lunchmeat, or if you want to be healthier, sliced home roasted chicken, with your favorite vegetables. Tomatos, peppers, lettuce, zucchini etc. Don't make it too think though. Roll up and eat.

Then there's veggie panninis easily done with a Foreman's grill. Sliced avocado, roasted red pepper, tomato, sprouts, zucchini (possibly roasted). Brush whole wheat bread with olive oil, layer veggies inside. Put together. Brush outside with olive oil. Put in Foremans grill and cook til golden. If you want some protein add some mozzerella to the inside before grilling.

And then I do a sliced banana with granola, vanilla yogurt, and marashino cherries. Actually I made the granola using the Schlopp recipe from the Green Eggs and Ham cookbook.

TJ, yeah I believe it. The other option we've explored is Nevada and I've heard the same thing about there.

Hey, they'll get ya somehow right?

UPS is something he is definitely interested in as they are a pretty good company to work for. We're settling some things up here and then will figure out the best way to make a move. It's a huge one ya know?

Eek, nope.

Neither.

Hubby has several years production. I will say he is looking into getting a class b cdl. Has truck experience.

So the idea at this point is to get that and likely move our rear ends down south to TX as that poses the most promise at this point, unless something else comes up.

The thing that I needed to know (which you so kindly answered ) is if the pay matches the cost of living. One very important factor. We're willing to start off in an apt but would like to move into a house.

I live in South Redford, MI. CNN rated it as one of the top 25 safest cities in the US.

We have a 3 bedroom home. Full basement. We purchased it for $125,000. With the updates we have made it Should be able to go for $145,000. Because of the market, if we tried to sell it, we couldn't.

Rather it will likely go up for auction. And in this area, it would go for under $100. Houses only streets from here were being auctioned at $60,000 +

and bought me a banana split at Baskin Robins

and ran a marathon buck naked

and sold the buildings and donated every last penny to a fund set up for the victims of the child abuse within their congregations..

then I'd go back. No problem.

with being on this board for over a month now, and reading many posts, i have never clearly been able to determine the root word of the term "dub".

i am just curious, any ideas?

is it based on being "dubbed"?
